OC United History
Orange County United (hereinafter “the Club”), or OC United as it is commonly called, was formed in the spring of 2005 in the city of Fullerton, California. One Peruvians, one Bolivian and one Honduran with strong passion for soccer decided to unite their efforts into one common goal – the creation of a soccer club that would reflect the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship and competitiveness of the sport. Together they called upon family, friends and neighbors from all parts of the world represented in Orange County to participate in this adventure. The result was a soccer club that mirrors the diversity that surrounds us here in Southern California. The Club’s players may speak English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic and Japanese, but on the pitch, they all speak the language of soccer.
The Club’s official debut as a team in a league was in the summer of 2006 when they joined the Coast Soccer League’s (CSL) summer league. Because of the Club’s good performance in the league, it was invited to participate in CSL’s regular 2006-2007 season. The Club also played in the Raul Briones Cup sponsored by CSL in the winter of 2006. After finishing the season, the Club played in CSL’s 2007 Summer League. The Club is currently gearing up for the 2007-2008 regular season scheduled to start on September 30, 2007.
